About the Team

Surrey County Council (SCC) is responsible for carrying out a range of services including highways, transport, planning, countryside and waste management. These services are critical for people living, working and travelling through Surrey.

Our team is a small unit in the wider Infrastructure Team, as we inspect and report on the condition of over 1500 structures in Surrey, and also supports the Rights of Way Team inspecting their structures. The team is also responsible for the routine maintenance of the structures. The wider team delivers a programme of larger schemes to manage and improve the asset condition.

About the Role

As an Assistant Bridge Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting and reporting on the condition of the structures to a tight programme.

This position is a professional development programme (PDP). As such, this position spans over three grades (PS5 to PS7). The successful candidate will be appointed on a grade relevant to their skills, abilities, qualifications and experience.

In this role, you will benefit from training and mentoring. Successful completion of all the required objectives will see an accelerated pay progression. You will be expected to undertake a sponsored engineering programme at Level 5. The course duration is 2 - 5 years.

Further Job progression may be offered when the professional development programme has been successfully completed.
