Hours: Full-Time - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Late StartPay: GBP90 - GBP110 per day dependent on experience We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable Secondary School in the Guildford, Surrey. As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students within the sports faculty and assisting in various other areas as required. This is a term-time only position, and the working hours are 35 hours per week. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher, both within the assigned sports faculty and in other faculties as per the cover rota.
  • Liaise with staff to understand and effectively communicate the requirements of the assigned work.
  • Provide clear instructions and support to students, motivating and encouraging them as necessary to enhance their learning experience.
  • Implement the school's Behaviour Policy and keep accurate attendance records.
  • Assist the Curriculum Leader with administrative/technical tasks as directed.
  • Deliver small group tuition following appropriate training.
  • Assist with first aid in emergencies

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Interest in working with young people and belief in their potential for success
  • Degree in Sports or Physical Education
  • Robust and caring disposition with patience and empathy
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly
  • Natural motivator with clear boundaries and a firm but fair approach
  • Confidence in dealing with young people aged 11-18 years
  • Well-organised and practical
  • Positive and caring attitude
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to working in a co-educational, multicultural comprehensive school
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in approach
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record
