Permanent Senior Data Scientist - Guildford

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Scientist to join a growing and impactful team working across a range of cutting-edge projects in the Aviation and Defence sectors.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing actionable insights that drive decision-making and operational effectiveness. You'll need to be both analytical and versatile-capable of assessing complex problem spaces and selecting the most appropriate data science tools and techniques. This might include rigorous statistical analysis, or the creation of advanced, computationally intensive numerical models.

The position demands strong programming skills and the ability to ingest, manipulate, and analyse large and varied datasets. You will work in a hybrid model, with the autonomy to manage your time effectively in order to meet project and customer objectives.

• Deliver high-impact data science solutions to complex problems within Aviation and Defence.

• Evaluate business and technical challenges and apply suitable analytical approaches.

• Build and optimise models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.

• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams of developers, analysts, and stakeholders.

• Contribute to all phases of the data science lifecycle: problem definition, data engineering, modelling, and evaluation.

• Proficient in Python and SQL, with experience using libraries such as Scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy.

• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Strong grasp of the end-to-end data science project lifecycle, including data preparation, modelling, validation, and deployment.

• Ability to conduct ad-hoc data mining and integrate large datasets from diverse, structured and unstructured sources.

• Solid understanding of statistics and probability, with a strong foundation in calculus, linear algebra, and numerical analysis.

• Creative problem solver with a passion for learning and developing domain expertise.

• Comfortable working in dynamic environments and adapting to evolving requirements.
