Our client is looking for a dedicated Associate Solicitor with two to five years PQE to deliver exceptional service in the areas of wills, powers of attorney, trusts, probate, and tax advice, both to private clients and across internal departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the department in achieving its fee-earning targets by providing expert advice and assistance to clients, as well as collaborating with other departments within the firm.
- Take responsibility for managing client matters, ensuring high-quality service delivery throughout the process.
- Oversee the management of support services, including supervising your secretary where applicable.
- Actively participate in the firm’s marketing activities, whether at the firm-wide, departmental, or office level.
- Provide guidance and utilise the skills of any department Trainee Solicitor, contributing to their training and development.
- Exercise financial control, with a particular focus on cash-flow management, including the collection of monies on account and timely billing procedures.
- Engage fully in the activities of the team, contributing to its success and cohesion.
- Provide support during the absence of other fee earners, ensuring continuity of service to clients.
- Be prepared to carry out work outside of normal hours when necessary to meet client needs.
- Travel to client meetings both within the UK and internationally when required.
- Promote best practices in file management to ensure efficient and organised case handling.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of internal procedures and processes.
- Undertake additional duties as required, responding to the needs of the business.
- Ensure full compliance with Lexcel standards and other regulatory requirements.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- A good honours degree in law.
- Strong competence in your area of law and practice.
- Proven ability to meet targets in chargeable hours, fees, recovery rates, and lock-up.
- Established and growing client and referrer base.
- Understanding of appropriate work referrals and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Willingness to participate in firm-wide activities beyond your department.
- Supervision of junior staff where appropriate.
- Involvement in practice development.
- Excellent legal training and sound professional skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and client care skills, especially in sensitive situations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, under pressure.
- Proficient with office management systems.
- Enthusiastic and committed to professional growth.
- Sound knowledge of professional conduct, client care, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and compliance.
- Established client following and specialised knowledge in your area of practice.
