The team is ranked in the London section of The Legal 500, despite being based outside the capital, and provides expert advice on UK and international tax, estate planning, trusts, and wealth structuring.The RoleThe role places the successful candidate at the core of the Tax & Trusts team, providing support through:
- Knowledge & Precedents Management - Maintaining and developing a comprehensive suite of precedents, checklists, and guidance notes to ensure the team stays up to date with legal developments.
- Legal Research & Updates - Monitoring changes in tax, trusts, and estate planning laws and delivering concise, practical updates to the team.
- Training & Development - Designing and delivering internal training sessions and supporting learning programmes for team members at all levels.
- Technical & Practical Support - Acting as a point of reference for complex legal queries and providing insight into intricate tax and trust matters.
- Business Development & Thought Leadership - Contributing to the firm's marketing efforts through articles, client briefings, and industry insights.
- Innovation & Legal Technology - Supporting the implementation of legal technology solutions to improve efficiency and knowledge-sharing.
- Cross-Team Collaboration - Working with other Knowledge Lawyers across the firm to enhance best practices.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years PQE in tax and trusts law, ideally from a leading private client team.
- Strong technical expertise in UK and (preferably) international tax, trusts, and estate planning.
- Experience in lasting powers of attorney, estate administration, and complex wealth structuring.
- A proactive and highly organised approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional legal research and writing skills, with a keen ability to translate technical law into clear, practical guidance.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience in designing and delivering training (desirable).
- Membership of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) (desirable).
- Familiarity with legal technology and knowledge management systems (desirable).
