Legal Counsel Role - Technology/Entertainment Sector FocusSuitable for candidates at a junior to mid-career stage due to the level of work the person will be assigned, this is a day-rate contractor role for 12 months starting mid-February.Qualification UK, EU or common lawDay rate: up to £500 per day Umbrella rate. You do not have to work via Umbrella you can be on agency payroll, but the rate would need to be recalculated.Location: Remote, with the option to work from the Surrey office 2/3 days per week if preferred.

About the Role:We are seeking a Legal Counsel with exposure to privacy matters and a background in the Technology or Entertainment sectors. This role sits in Privacy, but you do not have to be a privacy counsel. The most important factor for the client is to have the correct sector background. Candidates that don't have this sector will not be considered. The role will support privacy compliance, product development, and regulatory obligations across global markets.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and refine a global privacy program, ensuring compliance and addressing emerging privacy risks.
  • Collaborate with game studios and engineering teams to integrate privacy-by-design into mobile games, apps, and related solutions.
  • Provide legal advice on topics such as ad-tech, age differentiation, and platform-specific compliance for iOS and Android.
  • Support internal teams on data governance, regulatory interactions, and third-party relationships.
  • Monitor compliance with global privacy regulations and proactively adapt programs to meet new legal requirements.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3-6 years of legal experience with exposure to privacy matters.
  • A background in the Technology or Entertainment sectors - this is essential.
  • Knowledge of digital product launches, mobile gaming, or consumer technology is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, legal research, and analytical skills.
  • Bonus: Privacy certifications (CIPP/CIPP-E) or a technical background.
