The Company
USL is a small high-tech company, involved in the design, construction and supply of state-of-the art ultrasonic non-destructive testing systems. These systems employ ultrasound imaging technology for measurement and assessment of engineering components and assemblies of many kinds. Our customers include major manufacturers throughout the world including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Boeing Fokker Aerostructures, GE Aerospace, GKN Aerospace, Hindustan Aeronautics, Indonesian Aerospace, and many others. Most of these customers have multiple USL systems. Our products are used in a wide and increasing range of applications from aircraft components to integrated circuits.
We are based in Aldershot, Hampshire and our systems are installed around the U.K. and many overseas locations. These systems involve a combination of custom designed electro-mechanical scanners and our own signal processing electronics. They vary from table-top size to versions up to more than twenty metres in length. The scanners incorporate many electro-mechanical components, connected to and controlled by a system PC. To all intents and purposes, these scanners are specialised robotic systems and as such they are complex bespoke machines.
