If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Learning Support Assistant at a secondary school, specializing in SEMH education.



About the School:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, both in and outside of the classroom, ensuring that individual learning needs are met.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of personalized learning plans and interventions, working closely with teachers and SENCO.
  • Support students with challenging behavior, de-escalating situations when necessary and providing positive reinforcement.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where students feel secure and encouraged to reach their potential.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the student's development.
  • Help students develop essential life skills, self-regulation strategies, and social skills.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, encouraging their emotional well-being and confidence.


The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who is adaptable, patient, and has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH.
  • A compassionate and calm approach, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, staff, and external professionals.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to use initiative in a variety of situations.
