DescriptionSurrey County Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join our Assessment Team in Guildford. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with children, young people, and families, providing high-quality assessments to support timely and effective interventions.Our strengths-based, relationship-focused approach ensures that children receive the right support at the right time. You will be part of a supportive team that values professional development and continuous learning.Responsibilities
  • Conduct statutory social work assessments, identifying risks, strengths, and support needs.
  • Work closely with families, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies to develop SMART care plans.
  • Undertake child protection investigations and make informed decisions to safeguard children.
  • Manage a complex caseload, ensuring timely and proportionate responses to referrals.
  • Prepare and present reports for case conferences, court proceedings, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Advocate for children and families, ensuring their voices are central to all planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory guidance and best practices.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in child protection, safeguarding, and assessment services.
  • Skills: Strong risk assessment, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of child development, safeguarding frameworks, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Other Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel across Surrey as required.
