SEN Teaching Assistants Needed ASAP!

Location: Guildford, Surrey
Start Date: November 2024
Position: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: 100-110 per day (Depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD andhelping them access and engage with the curriculum.
• Assist in the development and implementation of tailored Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to meet the diverse needs of each student.
• Support classroom activities, working closely with the teacher to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where all students can thrive.
• Adapt lesson plans and resources to ensure SEN students can fully participate in lessons, promoting understanding and confidence in their learning.
• Monitor and record the progress and development of students, providing valuable feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and parents to help shape their ongoing learning journey.
• Implement behaviour management techniques to ensure a calm and productive learning environment, helping students regulate their emotions and focus on learning.
• Offer emotional support and build positive, trusting relationships with students, fostering an environment where they feel valued and supported.
• Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to implement specific strategies and interventions tailored to individual student needs.
• Prepare and organize resources, teaching aids, and classroom materials to support differentiated learning experiences for SEN students.
• Encourage and support students in developing their social skills, confidence, and self-esteem during lessons, group work, and unstructured times such as playtime and lunch.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• A genuine passion for working with children with SEN and a commitment to their educational and personal development.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Adaptability to meet the varied needs of students and respond to dynamic classroom environments.
• Previous experience working with children or young people in any capacity, particularly in an educational or SEN setting, is highly desirable but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Online Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
