Maths Tutor / Adult Learning Teacher who will provide one to one Maths tuition to adults from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities for an independent charity based in Guildford, Surrey.
SALARY: £27,000 pro rata + Benefits
LOCATION: The offices are in Burpham, Surrey, but the role will involve delivery across the County. When not working with clients at other venues, you can base yourself in the office, at home or a mix of both.
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Temporary Contract until 31st March 2025
WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week, 9am 5pm, job share will be considered for 25 hours per week, with flexible working and occasional evenings and weekends
PLEASE NOTE:You will have to travel across Surrey and sometimes beyond, so access to transport would be an advantage. Where public transport is not an option, the charity can support you through the Access to Work scheme as appropriate.
You will need to live with Surrey or Bordering Counties due to travel across Surrey

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Maths Tutor / Adult Learning Teacher who will provide one to one Maths tuition to adults from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities.
Working as the Maths Tutor / Adult Learning Teacher you will work to boost maths confidence in GRT communities, providing one-to-one maths sessions for adults.
As the Maths Tutor / Adult Learning Teacher you will also help to signpost GRT individuals and / or their carers to connect to and engage with appropriate services within the local area.
As a successful candidate you will combine excellent communication, practical advice and organisational skills with partnership working. Previous experience working with GRT community is highly desirable, although not essential.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Maths Tutor / Adult Learning Teacher include:
- One to one maths sessions in homes and/or socially comfortable communal areas, with an aim to getting more GRT individuals enrolled on Surrey Adult Learning courses
- Advertise and actively engage people from GRT communities to engage in sessions
- Support with applications to Surrey Adult Learning courses
- Liaise with Surrey Adult Learning, Local Authorities, Health Authorities, other GRT workers and other agencies regarding client issues
- Advocate for the GRT community
- Ensure GRT communities have opportunities to voice their views and concerns
- Create effective partnerships
- Contribute to internal meetings and communications
- Safely file and store client data and meeting notes
- Carry out risk assessments for your work
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified teacher (or equivalent tutoring qualifications)
- Recent experience of working in the education system; schools, colleges or tutoring to either children or adults in maths
- You will need to live with Surrey or Bordering Counties due to travel across Surrey
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good IT skills including Office applications and databases
- Ability to provide practical advice and develop effective partnerships
- Previous experience working with GRT community is highly desirable
