The right candidate will work across multiple transport planning projects, helping to shape high-quality, development-led solutions. The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified (in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field) and possess significant experience in development-focused transport planning.
Our client is looking for a proactive professional with strong project management capabilities, able to deliver and oversee projects across various scales for both public and private sector clients with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential, as you will be expected to clearly present and articulate ideas to colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
- Conduct access feasibility studies and design solutions
- Apply relevant transport and street design guidance, such as LTN 1/20, DMRB, and Manual for Streets
- Provide expert advice on transport and development planning matters
- Manage and deliver projects on time and within budget
- Work on a range of project scales, from small developments to large infrastructure schemes
- Ensure high-quality outputs and effective stakeholder engagement
- Support and lead project teams, ensuring smooth coordination and workflow
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
- Clearly communicate ideas, strategies and solutions in both written reports and presentations
- Represent the consultancy at meetings and public consultations as required
- Mentor, train and support junior staff in their professional development
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices within the team
- Lead or contribute to bid writing and the preparation of financial proposals
- Identify new business opportunities and support client development efforts
- Utilise and apply industry-specific software such as Junctions 9, LinSig, and AutoCAD
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in transport planning
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Extensive experience in development-focused transport planning
- Proven track record in producing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
- Strong experience in access feasibility studies and design
- Knowledge and practical application of design guidance, including LTN 1/20, DMRB, and Manual for Streets
- Comprehensive understanding of the planning process in England
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships
- Ability to mentor, manage, and train junior staff
- Experience in bidding and preparing financial proposals
- Strong project management capabilities
- Solid technical background, with proficiency in industry-specific software (ideally including Junctions 9, LinSig, and AutoCAD)
