Main Purposes of the Job:

  • Construct welded assemblies accurately to drawings, including both structural welding of skids/fixtures and intricate high-precision projects.
  • Explore and test new processes for prototyping and contribute ideas in the design process to aid manufacture.
  • Collaborate with the machine shop to produce prototypes, assisting with basic machining to advance projects.

Key Tasks:

  • Manufacture welded assemblies in aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, and high nickel alloys using TIG, MIG, and ARC.
  • Work with various teams to produce required brackets/frames, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with the machine shop team.
  • Work with the design teams to create more manufacturable products.
  • Order and maintain stock of welding-related consumables.
  • Monitor welding gas levels and organise replacement bottles.
  • Report on welding practices and procedures used.

Key Objectives:

  • Devise new welding processes for prototype work.
  • Produce parts and assemblies within an appropriate time frame.
  • Work with other teams to advance projects.
  • Perform basic machining work.
  • Assist with build and installation work.

Education / Skills:

  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding processes.
  • Broad knowledge of welding and fabrication ideas and principles.
  • Basic machining skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • 6g Stainless steel pipe welding coding (current or outdated) is a positive.
