Vickers Neal Recruitment are delighted to be working with Elegant Clutter based at their site in Warwick, we currently have an exciting opportunity for Workshop Technician to assist with the installation of Artwork for their commercial clients. Elegant Clutter work with high end hotels and restaurants and provide a bespoke and outstanding service to clients both within the UK and overseas.

The Opportunity:

To work in a live workshop on a variety of different projects every day. The company has developed a unique path in the hospitality and leisure industry meaning the client base has become very diverse with a variety of projects that reflect this diversity. We manufacture bespoke content in-house as well as outsource production of various items all culminating in final assembly by our skilled teams. The company draws on a range of practical fabrication and manufacturing knowledge to offer technically proficient as well as safe and commercially considered solutions. The workload ranges from singular bespoke sculptures to low volume production runs of bespoke pieces to simple production tasks of fabrications pre-printing or finishing. An attention to detail as well as time and commercial constraints is a necessity as well as the understanding that no two days may be the same and sometimes tasks are slow, repetitive whilst other exploratory and exciting.

The role:

The role will fit into an established workshop team comprising of fabricators, artists, and general technicians. The department is a combination of designers and makers where all members collaborate to find technical and commercial solutions. Your role will be to assist in the production of all manner of technical 3D elements. Some of these tasks will be simple day to day production of boards from a cutting list, or sanding timber and building to simple shapes, panels, boxes, etc. Other tasks may include more complex projects like resin casting, mould production, CNC cutting, bespoke metallic effects or paint finishes. All the above is project dependant and the workflow is dictated by live, commercial work. The department is deadline driven and internal project management work with the department to develop internal deadlines for project completion. Sometimes this means additional hours and additional pressure to meet completions. This role does pay overtime for evenings and weekend work.

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

Based on the above what is most essential is the ability to think practically about project work. Working in a task orientated manner with an aptitude to become more independent as skills grow over time is a basic requirement for this role.

A knowledge of standard materials, woods, metals, plastics, and the associated workshop machinery is desired with a willingness to learn new machinery and be hands on in the approach to all tasks. Anyone with apprenticeship experience, practical college education, vocational training and previous experience of manual work is welcome to apply.

Skills gaps will be supplemented with additional on-site training as well as industry qualifications for safe working and materials handling.
