We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistants to join a special school. You will be working under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support in the classroom management. This role is crucial in developing and improving the learning for children who require a nurturing approach to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Day to day of the role:
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils to interact and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Participate in students’ behaviour programmes and be aware of their Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and undertake pupil record keeping as requested.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to react constructively to challenging situations.
  • Experience in dealing with emotional and physical challenges presented by pupils.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities.
