RM Recruit are working with a South Birmingham charity to recruit an Interim Financial Controller for their team. This is a crucial role within the organisation and, reporting to the Head of Finance the role is key in maintaining the day to day activities of the finance function and providing support to a range of budget holders.

Hybrid working is on offer with 1 day per week required onsite.

Your remit will include, but not be limited to:

  • Provide financial leadership and effective management of financial operations including AR, AP, Treasury and Payroll and Fixed Assets.
  • Manage the external audit and the yearend processes and complete statutory financial statements to draft stage in accordance with the Charities SORP including all working papers.
  • Support in the implementation of the new finance system into the charity
  • Oversee the month end process, working closely with all finance staff.
  • Working closely with the Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners and assist with the preparation and consolidation of the monthly management accounts.
  • Support the Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners during the annual budget cycle and ensure all budgets are agreed and implemented on the accounting system
  • Ensure efficient and effective financial control operates throughout the organisation ensuring all regional and central financial activities comply with legislation, policies, procedures and the delegated authorities.
  • Manage and administer bank accounts, credit cards, and cash flow
  • Undertake the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and inter-company accounts and ensure regular review of general ledger, bad debts fixed assets, debtors and creditors etc.
  • Monthly administration of the investment portfolio and maintaining a close relationship with the charities investment advisers/managers to ensure sound management and compliance
  • VAT Compliance includes the preparation of quarterly VAT Returns for submission to the HMRC and providing.

This role with have a duration of 6 months whilst the organisation reviews and finalises its long tern structure of the finance function. We are ideally seeking a qualified accountant for this role but are able to consider part qualified applicants or those who can demonstrate the required skills.
