The Position:

My client are recruiting a Workshop Manager to lead the production team. They design and build exhibition stands and produce a high volume of custom built concepts each year that are then stored and re-used at shows throughout the UK and across Europe. 

The Candidate:

This role will be a leadership and management role that would suit someone who is organised, efficient, and a planner keen to put in place their own mark on best practice, health and safety management, and the allocation of resources towards projects together with booking in and out of goods and equipment

A degree of Joinery/Carpentry knowledge is essential in terms of managing the team and tasks but with organisation and management being key; production experience could be experience of managing trades in a similar role rather than hands on. Experience of managing and leading a production focused team is essential. Candidates must be PC literate in relevant Microsoft office applications.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaison with key staff to plan future activity and work
  • Scheduling of labour resources
  • Management of staffing levels
  • Setting of core hours and overtime
  • To ensure the works is opened and closed each day
  • Management and development of staff
  • Time and performance management
  • Management of storage
  • Controlling of goods in and out
  • Management and Maintenance of vehicles
  • Ordering of materials and maintenance of key supplier relationships
  • To ensure good flows of communications between all stakeholders throughout each project
  • To provide staff with everything they need to fulfil their roles and specific projects
  • To maintain and manage discipline
