We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Audit Assistant Manager to join our clients dynamic team. In this role, you will conduct audits for a diverse range of clients, including owner-managed businesses, charities and educational institutions.

The successful candidate will bring a proactive and adaptable approach, confidently managing a varied workload while mentoring and supporting the development of trainees.

As an integral part of the audit team, you will oversee workflow, contribute to the planning and execution of audits, and manage on-site fieldwork through to the final stages of the audit process. You'll also supervise the audit teams work, aiming to resolve issues independently and escalating when necessary.

Key Duties:

Audit Planning: Prepare audit plans in advance, ensuring risks are identified and objectives are clearly defined

Team Allocation: Assign responsibilities to team members during the drafting of audit plans to ensure smooth execution

Audit Execution: Conduct audits for both commercial and not-for-profit clients, leading teams of up to five members to deliver high-quality results

Project Management: Lead audits to meet client deadlines and ensure adherence to budget constraints

Client Reporting: Draft management letters, providing recommendations to clients for improving their accounting systems and controls

Work Review: Review audit work completed by junior team members, offering constructive feedback to enhance their performance

Team Development: Provide on-the-job training to junior staff, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities

Financial Statement Preparation: Draft individual and consolidated financial statements, primarily under UK GAAP standards

Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and colleagues to ensure ongoing collaboration and trust

Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • Qualified Accountant: ACCA or equivalent qualification
  • Audit Practice Experience: Proven experience in an Audit and Accounts practice, with a solid understanding of regulatory obligations and quality standards
  • Risk Assessment: Proficient in identifying and assessing risks, as well as implementing effective controls to mitigate them
  • Client Management: Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to build and sustain long-term professional relationships
