Due to continued growth I’m currently recruiting for a General Operative to work with a well-established engineering company based near Halesowen. As the General Operative you will be responsible for assisting with Preparing goods for despatch, loading / Unloading lorries and operating band saws
Working hours for the General Operatives:
- Monday - Thursday 07:00am - 15:00pm
- Friday 07:00am - 12:30pm
What’s on offer for the General Operative:
- salary up to £23,200 p.a.
Duties of the General Operative:
- To place goods onto pallets for despatch or to leave in a suitable and safe location for loading if a pallet is not required
- The wrapping or banding of goods to pallet if required
- Loading and unloading of vehicles via forklift or pendant crane
- General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
- Ensuring material is safely stored in stock
- Using forklift to deliver / collect material to / from other departments
- Mobile and overhead crane driving (if licenced)
- Removal of swarf from each saw every day and cleaning of any leaks/spills
- General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
- Ensuring any sawn bars are marked with internal number and returned to stock
- Inspection and marking of incoming material
- Work as a team with saw operators
- Work to assist other departments where possible
- Adhere to health and safety methods and procedures
- Perform stocktake of all material when required
The successful candidate for the General Operatives position will have the following experience:
- 3 - 5 year’s experience working as a Labourer (Essential)
- Operating overhead cranes (Desirable)
- Ability to operate bandsaws (Essential)
- Experience within heavy engineering (Desirable)
