I am currently recruiting for an experienced Dispensing Optician

The role is to work as part of the practice team in the delivery of first class dispensing services, showing excellent understanding of customer needs as well as being motivated in achieving sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDispensing1. Ensure the accurate and appropriate dispensing of prescriptions issued as a result of an eye examination2. Select lenses and frames to best suit the prescription and the customer’s lifestyle3. Check orders received from Optical Technicians, if required4. Establish suitability and accuracy of lenses using the focimeter5. Fit the customer with their final spectacles and make appropriate adjustments6. Offer the customer general advice and guidance7. Implement minor repairs to frames8. Carry out retinal photography, tonometry and visual field tests supplementary to an eye examination and alert the optometrist to any unusual / abnormal features identified through these processes9. Undertake colorimetry activities where appropriate, including use of the colorimetry machine (for density, hue and colour checks) and coloured overlays10. Keep the appropriate records and report to the Practice Manager/Directors, as required

Selling & Customer Relationship Management1. Maximise sales whilst minimising costs to ensure the achievement of specified margins and targets2. Ascertain the wants and needs of each customer3. Recommend, select and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and wants4. Describe merchandise and explain its use, benefits, operation and care to customers5. Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions as well as policies regarding payment, exchanges and security6. Serve customers, and bag and package purchases7. Observe and identify security risks and theft and prevent and attend to these occurrences appropriately8. Ensure that the practice provides excellent customer service at all times, meeting and – where possible – exceeding customer expectations9. Answer the telephones and deal with enquiries and appointments10. Manage enquiries, complaints, refunds etc, as required

Other Tasks1. Represent the company at events etc, as required2. Undertake any other tasks that may be reasonably requested
