We are seeking a dedicated Management Accountant to support the Chief Financial Officer in all aspects of the development and effective operation of the finance function. This role is crucial for ensuring the financial health and governance of the organisation.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Assist with the operation and monitoring of accounts and budgets.
  • Support the production of accurate financial information for various accounting purposes.
  • Provide oversight of financial management across the organisation to ensure sound financial governance.
  • Contribute to the wider business functions and work effectively within the team.
  • Lead month-end and year-end processes, ensuring alignment with organisational deadlines and financial procedures.
  • Produce monthly financial reports for the CFO, highlighting financial performance and explaining key variances.
  • Organise and conduct budget meetings with senior leaders to ensure adherence to budget constraints and adapt to funding changes.
  • Manage data integrity in financial systems through accurate data entry and maintenance, including journal adjustments.
  • Support the CFO with cash flow reporting, investment opportunities, and the production of statutory returns.
  • Ensure compliance with financial procedures, including managing the monthly VAT return and inter-company journals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a management accounting role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Ability to lead financial reporting and month-end/year-end processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and standards applicable to academies and trusts.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
