Behaviour Learning Mentor ( BFL)

Calderdale

We are recruiting for a Behaviour Learning Mentor to work in an alternative provision in the Calderdale area. This is to start after October half term break; full time term time only, with an opportunity of becoming permanent. The main focus is management of the alternative provision’s behaviour learning process.

The alternative provisions accommodate young people with Education Health Care Plans across Key stage 3 and Key stage 4.

Job Spec & Description:

  • GCSE English, Maths or Adult literacy/ numeracy level 1 or equivalent
  • Level 2 GNVQ Health/ Childcare
  • Must have experience of working with primary and secondary aged pupils with special needs including emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Team Teach desirable, but not essential as training will be offered.
  • Ability to support the requirements of pupils who have emotional / Behavioural /physical difficulties.
  • Ability to relate to young children, young people, carers and staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with children, staff and parents.
  • An understanding of the issues relating to the children that have additional learning needs and special educational needs.
  • Good ICT skills
  • Have high expectations that support motivation and challenge the pupil’s educational development.
  • Must have a DBS in the subscription service, or willing to apply for a new one.
