Our client

Morgan Hunt are working with a charity who support people to change their lives for the better. We are currently recruiting a Housing Support Worker for a Floating Support Service in Halifax. This is a full-time role, on a temporary basis, ongoing whilst permanent recruitment takes place.

The role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will offer housing related support to people in Halifax to people with varying levels of needs within their own homes and at drop-in sessions at partner venues.

  • Work with people offering opportunities for them to improve their quality of life, develop their skills and make decisions about their future.
  • Provide holistic, practical and general support to people in order to promote inclusion and independence.
  • Support people to maintain regular appointments with partner agencies to promote health & wellbeing.
  • Complete accurate assessments to identify areas of need, support planning tailored to those needs.
  • Provide general practical and emotional support to people in order to promote their independence and recovery.
  • Ensure effective communication, boosting referral pathways, sharing information with partner agencies and organisations.
  • Take an active and responsible approach to safeguarding people in line with Government, organisational and local policy and procedure.
  • Participate in assessing and reviewing future housing and support needs, identifying and coordinating internal and external services and referrals in response to these.
  • Assist in arranging appointments with relevant professionals, e.g. Social Worker, Probation Officers, Recovery Worker and mental Health Professionals.
  • Advice and support with personal budgeting, debt management and claims for welfare benefits.

The candidate

  • Experience of supporting vulnerable people and providing housing related support with a sound understanding of the support needs of people who access services.
  • Competent in using IT systems to keep accurate, up to date records.
  • An understanding of Local Authority regulation.
  • Knowledge of the benefits system and understanding of housing provision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of external partner agencies.
  • A driver with access to a vehicle for work.
  • An Enhanced current DBS.
