What you will do:
- Conduct precise assessments that enable users to independently direct their support and make informed decisions.
- Operate as a Safeguarding Investigator, working under the guidance of the Team Manager/Team Leader and Level 3 Social Workers, using your legal authority to protect individuals at risk of harm.
- Ensure that commissioning processes not only provide needed support but also deliver exceptional value for both users and the council.
- Implement strategic crisis interventions, using local insights and your professional judgement to respect user autonomy.
- Work collaboratively within multi-agency teams to deliver coordinated, person-centred support that enhances user independence and community engagement.
- Apply relevant legal frameworks and social work theories to achieve the best possible outcomes for vulnerable adults.
- Engage in continuous professional development and meet training requirements as stipulated by Social Work England.
- Participate in a duty rota as arranged with Line Management.
- Lead safeguarding investigations, ensuring adherence to multi-agency policies to safeguard vulnerable adults effectively.
- Oversee and refine commissioning processes, ensuring services meet eligible needs while judiciously managing resources.
- Drive impactful crisis interventions through your depth of professional experience and local knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW or degree level).
- Registration with Social Work England (registration number required upon application).
- Completion of a Strengthening Practice portfolio within six months of appointment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of Adult Social Care legislation and community care principles.
- Proficient in mental capacity legislation and its practical application.
- Skilled in assessing social care needs and making informed professional judgements.
- Competence with IT tools, such as social care databases, Word, and Excel.
- Awareness of oppression, disadvantage, and discrimination effects, both structurally and individually.
- Ability to encourage user choice and autonomy throughout the assessment process.
Experience:
- Proven experience in a social work setting involving multi-agency context for adults.
- Demonstrated capability to handle complex situations and manage risks effectively, particularly for vulnerable adults.
