Education Support Staff - Therapeutic Pastoral Lead

Join our dedicated team at a specialist school in Sowerby Bridge, where we provide high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education to boys and girls aged 6 to 17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many of our students also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. We are committed to delivering an education experience that fosters personal growth and prepares our students to be responsible, caring, and respectful individuals.

Role Overview

As a Therapeutic Pastoral Lead, you will play a crucial role within our leadership team, embodying and facilitating a healing approach to support and modify challenging behaviour. This position requires a deep understanding of trauma-informed practices and a commitment to fostering an environment where all students can succeed.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Lead and run intervention groups that provide meaningful support to young people, demonstrating best practices in therapeutic interactions.
  • Manage the pastoral care, including the social, moral, spiritual, and cultural (SMSC) development and socio-emotional resilience of students.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on the holistic progress and personal development of students, ensuring their well-being and academic success.
  • Uphold and promote our safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and security of all students.
  • Contribute to the school's improvement planning and maintain compliance with Independent School Standards and the Ofsted Inspection framework.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting that caters to SEMH and SEND.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic practices and interventions suitable for children with complex needs.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of inspiring and motivating others.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in therapeutic education practices.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the ability to maintain a safe learning environment.
