Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be exclusively supporting a leading manufacturing organisation in Halifax as they look to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to shape the procurement strategy and lead a small but capable purchasing team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The Role:

As Purchasing Manager, you’ll take ownership of the entire procurement function — from supplier strategy and negotiation, through to ensuring cost-effective, timely sourcing of materials that support operational performance and growth. You'll work closely with production, operations, and finance, playing a key part in the overall efficiency and success of the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, develop, and manage the purchasing function to meet company objectives
Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate terms to deliver cost savings and security of supply
Develop and implement procurement strategies in line with business objectives
Monitor market trends, identify risks, and explore opportunities to enhance value
Work cross-functionally to support new product introductions and project requirements
Maintain robust purchasing KPIs and reporting metrics to drive performance
Manage stock levels in collaboration with planning to ensure optimal inventory levels

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in a similar Purchasing or Procurement Manager role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
Experience in developing and implementing sourcing strategies
ERP/MRP system knowledge (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
A hands-on, proactive approach with excellent stakeholder management skills
CIPS qualification (or working towards) is advantageous but not essential
