Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be exclusively supporting a leading manufacturing organisation in Halifax as they look to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to shape the procurement strategy and lead a small but capable purchasing team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The Role:

As Purchasing Manager, you’ll take ownership of the entire procurement function — from supplier strategy and negotiation, through to ensuring cost-effective, timely sourcing of materials that support operational performance and growth. You'll work closely with production, operations, and finance, playing a key part in the overall efficiency and success of the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop, and manage the purchasing function to meet company objectives

  • Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate terms to deliver cost savings and security of supply

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies in line with business objectives

  • Monitor market trends, identify risks, and explore opportunities to enhance value

  • Work cross-functionally to support new product introductions and project requirements

  • Maintain robust purchasing KPIs and reporting metrics to drive performance

  • Manage stock levels in collaboration with planning to ensure optimal inventory levels

What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a similar Purchasing or Procurement Manager role, ideally within a manufacturing environment

  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen

  • Experience in developing and implementing sourcing strategies

  • ERP/MRP system knowledge (SAP, Oracle, or similar)

  • A hands-on, proactive approach with excellent stakeholder management skills

  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) is advantageous but not essential
