Welder/Fabricator

Cogent Staffing are recruiting for an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join our client, an established and growing engineering/manufacturing company based in Halifax. The ideal candidate will be looking for a long term permanent role to progress within the quickly growing company.

Shifts & Salary:

• Monday to Friday
• 7am - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday, 8am - 12pm Friday
• 16 - 18 an hour depending on MIG/TIG use as well as general welding experience.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform MIG & TIG welding on various metal components and structures, often custom made, mostly stainless steel as well as mild steel and aluminium.
• Performing pre-weld fabrication duties as required as well as welding.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
• Set up welding equipment and ensure proper settings for each project.
• Clean and prepare surfaces for welding by removing rust, debris, and contaminants.
• Weld components together using the appropriate welding techniques and equipment.
• Inspect welds for quality and make any necessary repairs or adjustments.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Key requirements:

• Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator, with both MIG and TIG experience.
• Skill and experience working with stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium preferred.
• Own full UK driving licence.
• Proficient in stick welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.
• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in welding processes.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical principles.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds.
