At SGN, we are recruiting for our latest Trainee Team Manager openings - offering plenty of opportunities for training, progression, and a career in the energy industry.
As a Trainee Team Manager, you will be enrolled on a dedicated 2-year development programme, supported by your line managers and mentors. This role offers genuine potential to progress further. You will be supporting the management of projects from conception to completion.
Our Scottish Independent Undertakings (SIUs) are unique in the UK in that they are not connected to the National Grid system and use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a feedstock. The SIUs are part of the Remote Networks within SGN.
You will play a key role in the delivery of projects across the Remote Networks Department and will also gain training and knowledge in the wider business operations through attending site visits and relevant training courses.

- Participating as an effective member of an incident management team for Tanker or Logistics incidents
- Ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of SIU Tanker Fleet Assets & LNG/LPG Storage Plants
- Overseeing assigned work programmes or projects from initiation through to closure
- Managing tanker operations including LNG/LPG decant exercises and tanker offloading
- Assisting in-house projects team design capacity (e.g. CAD capability preferential) and project management tasks
- Responsible for SIU in-house compliance for COMAH, Functional Safety and PSSR through liaison with Asset Management
- Assist with strategic planning and delivery of Energy Futures solutions for Remote Networks
What you’ll need
- Minimum HND in a suitable engineering discipline
- AutoCAD experience would be viewed favourably but not required
- Full Valid Driving Licence
- Ability to take on Practical and Operational Challenges and be open to working towards Emergency Standby Rota Competence
- Willing to work flexibly between various Glasgow Office Locations and travel UK as required for training and other business
- Experience of managing people; this could come from a wide range of industries such as retail and other customer-focused areas
- Ability to think on your feet whilst always being safety aware.
- Good attention to detail and a proactive work ethic with excellent numerical and analytical skills to be able to problem solve
- Interest in developing your career within the gas network industry
- Ability to commit to 2 years of training and development
- A full clean driving license and access to a vehicle
