Outreach Secondary Tutor / QTS Teacher - One-to-One

Location: Halstead, Essex

Remuneration: £15 - £25 per hour, commensurate with experience (outside IR35)

Commitment: Full time or Part Time (during school hours)

Contract: 9 - 30 hours (over a minimum of 3 days)

Role:

  • We are looking for a dedicated Outreach Tutor to provide tailored educational support to students unable to attend mainstream education due to reasons such as Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, or those at risk of exclusion.
  • This role offers significant job satisfaction, involving one-to-one and group sessions covering subjects like basic Mathematics, English, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, interventions, and mentoring.
  • Sessions are conducted in various settings, including pupils' homes, local libraries, and schools.
  • Candidates should possess a strong understanding of literacy and numeracy, alongside experience working with children, particularly those with SEND.
  • Students range from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Year 11, with support extending up to GCSE/Functional Skills levels.
  • An immediate opportunity is available in Haldtead supporting one-on-one with Year 10 students, supporting GCSE English and Mathematics and more opportunitied with KS3 and KS4 students at varyin levels are coming through weekly.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised tutoring sessions to students of varying ages and abilities.

  • Inspire and motivate students to overcome challenges and achieve academic objectives.

  • Establish strong connections with students and their families through clear communication and genuine care.

  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate the unique learning styles and needs of each student.

  • Utilise educational technology and resources to enhance the learning experience.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in tutoring or teaching, especially with diverse age groups.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for student success.

  • Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to individual student needs.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (support can be provided to apply).

  • Right to Work in the UK.
