The college has a diverse and inclusive culture and offers a broad range of courses for students of all levels. South Lanarkshire College is now seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to lead our finance function. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic financial advice to support the College's vision and goals.About you:We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance to lead the college finance function and be responsible for the review, design, and maintenance of financial information associated with the preparation of financial accounting records which flow into the requirements, as well as those required for monthly, quarterly, and annual management forecasts, including statutory accounts. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of working within a public sector or charitable organisation with an understanding of working with restricted and unrestricted funding. We are seeking a fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CPFA or equivalent) with experience of financial leadership and implementation of change. Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership: Oversee the entire finance function, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Vice Principal and College Management Team to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the College's strategic plan.
  • Financial Management: Manage the College's financial resources effectively, ensuring optimal utilization and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, implementing robust control measures to safeguard the College's assets.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant: Possess a relevant professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in a senior finance role within a complex organization, preferably in the education sector or other public sector organisation.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent Communication: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
