MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Transport Shift Manager, based in Uddingston on behalf of our leading Logistics client. The successful Transport Shift Manager, based in Uddingston will report directly into the Transport Manager.

The successful Transport Shift Manager, based in Uddingston, will be responsible a team of drivers and will champion compliance and health and safety, within their team.

Key Responsibilities for the Transport Shift Manager based in Uddingston:

  • Delivering the daily plan through collaborating with other teams. Maintaining budgeted costs and planning shift resources to the forecasted volumes to achieve the agreed service levels.
  • Taking ownership in the delivery of your shift plans updating senior management regularly on progress, including aspects on, safety, loss and damage, and rota management (including holidays).
  • Supporting the General Manager to develop a plan in line with forecasted volumes.
  • Promoting and driving consistency to ensure compliance and standards of quality, service, safety, and security are always met.
  • Ensuring the accurate planning of routes to maximise efficiency and performance.
  • Manging the budget to achieve the agreed service levels including productivity, labour costs and overtime usage. Actively minimising indirect costs.
  • Monitoring quality and highlighting continuous improvement solutions in relation to the operation and compliance and ensuring the Team are briefed on changes and trained to achieve targets.
  • Additional support on all driver compliance in depots working closely with the Transport Manager to ensure safe and legal practices are prioritised.
  • All H&S matters including safe loading, hygiene, quality audits, risk assessments and safe systems of work on your shift.
  • Leading your team through setting high standards in all people aspects. Such as Recruitment & Onboarding, Induction, Attrition, Sickness & Absence, Employee Relations, Development and Recognition. Also, maintaining the accuracy of information on all internal systems.

Key Qualifications/Experience for the Transport Shift Manager in Uddingston:

  • Full Driving License
  • CPC National Certificate is desirable.
  • Good Maths and English skills written and verbal.
  • IOSH Qualified
  • PC Literate
  • Experience in working with a large team.
  • Good knowledge and experience in operational processes.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, performance driven business with key focuses on delivering budgets, KPIs and SLAs.
  • Experience working to O License regulations or willing to be trained.
