A Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprentice is responsible for developing and implementing policies that promote ethical business practices, environmental consciousness, and social responsibility. They ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards, engage with stakeholders, and oversee initiatives to reduce environmental impact. For this Thames Water scheme, duties typically include:

Developing policies relating to a companys ethical, sustainable and environmental responsibilities

Ensuring a company has a positive impact on local communities and the environment

Raising public awareness of a companys social responsibility commitments through marketing

Conducting research into best practice

Writing and actioning a company's social responsibility strategy

Creating partnerships with clients, employees, suppliers, charities, and other groups

Ensuring that a companys policies meet legal and commercial needs

Organising events for employees and their teams

Encouraging links between the company and educational or charitable groups

Reporting on social responsibility activity to senior managers.

Monitoring achievement against project planning requirements

Typical Working Week

40 hours p/w with start time typically between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

Person Specification

Proactive approach, taking pride in their work and taking accountability for decisions.

A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced working environment

Ability to quickly prioritise tasks and the initiative to dive head-first into problem solving

No two days are the same on the front line and not every day goes to plan, so youll need to be quick on your feet to respond

Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams

Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences

Ability to visit different sites and training days

Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment.

Ability to work in all weather conditions to serve our customers and protect the environment

Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols

Minimum Requirements

English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 / C or above, or Functional Skills at Level 2 or above.

Must have a full UK drivers licence and access to a vehicle

Must be authorised to work in the UK

The interest in social and environmental change, whether working in a small or large organisation as part of a team or on their own.

Key Training/College Information

K10 will enrol you to the Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider.

The apprenticeship duration is 36 months.

To start this apprenticeship, youll need to be:

Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status

Not enrolled on any other courses

18+ due to site H&S rules
