Manpower are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader with a background in grounds maintenance and cleansing to work for our client as a Weekend Chargehand. In this role you will be overseeing high-specification cleansing activities for parks in London. The role involves managing seasonal and permanent teams, driving Dustcarts/Sweepers, litter picking, and maintaining parks to ensure a clean, enjoyable environment for the public. You'll also liaise with clients, work with the management team, schedule tasks, and handle ad-hoc requests, ensuring compliance with HR, Health & Safety, and other procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations during the weekend shifts to ensure smooth functioning.
  • Manage and lead a team of staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance productivity.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues that may arise promptly.
  • Assist in training new employees and promoting a positive team culture.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports on weekend operations and staff performance.
  • Collaborate with management to implement improvements and achieve operational goals.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in team leading or supervising complex grounds maintenance & cleansing activities.
  • Must be happy to be hands-on and support the team with cleansing duties in the park, litter picking and bin emptying.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety practices and the correct use of PPE.
  • Dustcart/Sweeper experience an advantage, but training can be provided.
  • Full clean B1 Driving License.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in using standard office software and reporting tools.
