We are looking for a Senior Service Charge Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a technical accountant with excellent double-entry bookkeeping skills and a strong background in service charge accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining service charge accounts ledgers to a high standard and preparing financial & management accounting reports. This position offers the opportunity for personal growth and career advancement in a medium-sized, friendly company.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Build and maintain relationships with the Property Management department, providing accounting insight as required.
  • Review ledgers for consistency and quality and prepare regular financial management reports.
  • Explain financial numbers to stakeholders, including balance sheet analysis.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and calculate non-budgeted utility and insurance re-charges.
  • Develop and maintain client/property manager relationships, potentially visiting sites and attending client meetings.
  • Prepare budget templates, assist Property Managers with budget preparation, and develop the budget process.
  • Ensure year-end ledgers are in good order and liaise with accountants for certified/audited accounts.
  • Understand and be able to perform all aspects of the service charge accounts administrator role.
  • Work with the team to create practical documented financial information for buildings.
  • Mentor and train staff, develop their skills, and implement process changes to improve productivity and control.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or qualified by experience.
  • Strong knowledge of service charge accounting and relevant regulations.
  • Proficient in Qube MRI and Microsoft 365/Office.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Clear understanding of accounting double-entry Debits/Credits.
  • Team player with the ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Confident telephone manner and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment whilst maintaining attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive mentality.
