The Role

To support the field engineer and tree cutting power line outage programme by providing customer power supply confirmation assessment and feeding this information back into the programme within a distribution area(s). Take responsibility for driving the delivery of your own allocated works. Ensure work is completed to the highest possible standards in terms of safety, environment, quality, and customer service.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Patrol overhead power lines to confirm customers going off power supply within a given power outage area identified by the field engineer.
  • Confirm accuracy of customer carding lists and ensure any updating is carried out as per procedure.
  • Patrol outage areas to check switching points for efficient isolation on outages.
  • Visit generator sighting points to arrange access for effective generator mobilisation.
  • Drive a productive approach to ensure maximum delivery across all role outputs.
  • Liaise with customers as appropriate regarding any planned power line outages and ensure a polite and helpful approach.
  • Report any HSQE events or power line defects whilst patrolling.
  • Support the delivery of the overall tree cutting power outage programme.
  • Adherence to Ground Control and UK Power Networks Services Operations and Procedures.
  • Attend any internal or external programming and planning meetings as may be required at the time.
  • Uphold Company Vision and Values in all your actions and decisions.
  • Be willing to travel and operate at times as may be required to ensure an efficient delivery of the programme.

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • To have experience in the field of overhead power lines.
  • Ability to read and understand Network diagrams.
  • Ability to physically identify Powerline Network Components (switching points, HV & LV cable feeds).
  • To be able to work on own initiative and prioritise workloads.
  • To be prepared to train and learn new skills to accomplish the full range of the role.
  • Ability to identify problems and investigate alternatives.
  • Hold full driving licence.
  • IT Competent

Desirable

  • Able to complete self-risk assessments.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
