Reed Finance are partnering with a successful group business who are seeking a proactive and hands-on Finance Manager to drive financial performance and growth for two key businesses. This leadership role involves managing small teams across two sites, delivering strong business support, and ensuring effective financial controls. The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in the company’s management teams, providing accurate and actionable financial insights to facilitate informed decision-making.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Oversee a small team of accounts assistants, ensuring high-standard delivery of day-to-day activities.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly accounts up to trial balance level for two companies.
  • Produce monthly management accounts with meaningful analysis to drive corrective actions.
  • Target improvements in profitability and reductions in the working capital cycle.
  • Manage the delivery of annual statutory accounts and corporation tax computations.
  • Lead the group external statutory audit for two business units.
  • Ensure compliance with all HMRC and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct sales, gross margin, labour utilisation, and cost base reviews to support profitability and resource allocation.
  • Manage contract, WIP, and debtor reviews for robust financial performance and accurate revenue recognition.
  • Perform monthly payroll reviews and manage fixed asset audits and inventory counts.
  • Critically review operational results and challenge for accuracy and completeness.
  • Advise and support management with implementing and documenting business procedures and systems.
  • Collaborate with management to develop annual targets and forecasting processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar position. Qualified by experience will also be considered
  • Experience in the manufacturing/engineering sectors would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in delivering both financial and management accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and techniques.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Analytically minded with good business judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills.
  • Familiarity with Sage or similar General Ledger systems.
