Reed Finance are pleased to be exclusively partnering with a successful SME retailer who is seeking a new Head of Finance to oversee the accounting operations of the business, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legislation. This role involves coordinating financial forecasts, preparing management accounts, and liaising with external auditors. The successful candidate will form part of the SLT, assisting the Finance Director and senior management in maintaining internal controls and improving financial systems.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.
  • Generate supplementary reports to analyse results, identify trends, and support management in decision-making.
  • Maintain a fixed asset register and control accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and rolling forecasts, analysing performance against budget.
  • Prepare accurate annual statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP and liaise with external auditors.
  • Provide financial analysis to support the Finance Director and senior management team.
  • Develop and enhance accounting processes and regularly review finance policies and procedures.
  • Manage and develop the finance team, ensuring health & safety and welfare.
  • Complete control of the finance function in regard to day to day reporting, managing 1 member of staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in financial management and accounting.
  • Ability to produce detailed financial reports and forecasts.
  • Experience with financial analysis and modelling.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in managing a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
