Costings Team Leader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Costings Team Leader to join my clients’ growing team in Harlow.As the Costings Team Leader, you'll oversee the accurate processing and costing of all engineer reports and jobs, acting as a liaison between the service desk, engineers, and customers. This role requires strong communication and critical thinking skills to ensure efficient operations and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and a strong analytical mind. They will be able to accurately analyse completed engineering jobs and identify the appropriate contracted Schedule of Rates or markup rule for each customer, ensuring correct revenue billing on a job-by-job basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed cost analysis for all contracts to ensure accuracy and adherence to agreed rates.
  • Review and approve invoices to maintain financial integrity.
  • Analyse contract profitability to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Identify and implement strategies to streamline processes across different departments to drive revenue, reduce costs, and generate additional business.
  • Communicate and promote efficiency improvements within the costing team.
  • Prepare accurate and timely customer valuations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including finance, contract managers, department heads, administration teams, engineers, subcontractors, customers, and third-party suppliers.
  • Assign daily tasks and conduct regular audits to ensure quality and minimize errors.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in Cost Management and leading a small team
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Effective time management and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with Tesseract, Compleat, or Sage (preferred)
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment
  • PC literate with a strong knowledge of Excel
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
