Alternative Provision by Ackerman Pierce are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to take on the role of Head of Education. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire our team of tutors in delivering bespoke, trauma-informed education to young people with specific needs in various settings.

About Us

Ackerman Pierce are an Alternative Provision Provider, delivering bespoke tuition and therapeutic education to CYP who are unable to access Mainstream Education due to their SEND or SEMH needs; putting in place the essential first building blocks to ensure a positive outcome is achieved. We are committed to helping each child achieve their full potential in education through 1:1 and 2:1 support in various settings throughout the UK.

The Role

As Head of Education, you will be responsible for overseeing the tutors and continuing the delivery of a high-quality, individualised educational experience for each student. Your leadership will guide our dedicated tutors and support staff in providing personalised education for students with various SEND and SEMH, and who are receiving Alternative Provision. This is a role where you will be based at our Head Office but expected to travel to various locations, on a regular basis, to meet the tutors who work within various settings.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring it is tailored to the needs of each young person who have SEMH/SEND and who are currently in Alternative Provision.

- To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students by way of supporting the tutors in their delivery, and to review their reports and ILP's.

- Achieve excellent outcomes for learners through motivating, inspiring and effectively managing the performance and development of tutors.

- Work collaboratively with the Education team to create an integrated approach to learning and development.

- Develop and train the tutors, providing training and professional development opportunities.

- Ensure safeguarding policies are adhered to across all educational settings.

About You

We are looking for a leader with a strong educational background, experience in special education, and a passion for working with vulnerable children. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEND/SEMH and understand how trauma impacts learning. You will be someone who can inspire and motivate both tutors and students, ensuring that through our flexible alternative provision we focus on creating a nurturing environment that fosters education, motivation and re-engagement of a child.

Essential Criteria:

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

-Experience in senior leadership within an educational setting.

- Proven track record of delivering high-quality education, particularly for children with special educational needs (SEN) or those in therapeutic settings.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Criteria:

- Experience developing High Needs/SEND curriculum.

- Experience in trauma-informed education.

- A background in working with children accessing Alternative Provision.

- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work closely with various teams around the child.
