What’s this role about?
As a 2nd line support engineer, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance and performance of internal IT systems. Using your analytical skills to efficiently problem solve within our fast-paced environment, you will work with your team to provide market leading user technical support.
This role will involve being on-site from the Harlow office and visiting various depots if and when required.
You will be supported by a wider team across including a MSP (managed service provider) and CTO.
What will I get up to day to day?
You will be responsible for delivering technical support services to our internal staff, while escalating issues requiring more senior resource to a suitable engineer/external parties.
Your everyday focus will include:
Every day is exciting, the normal daily tasks will include:
- Resolving user related tech issues.
- Ensuring there are no performance issues on the servers.
- Responding to internal support tickets.
- Ensuring documentation is kept up-to-date.
- Liaising with IT leaders and wider team to support projects
Troubleshooting a range of technical issues experienced by our staff and clients, including the following technologies:
- Clients (Windows/Mac) laptops/desktop
- Virtualization Software
- Network infrastructure (Unifi WAP’s, switches, servers and NAS)
- Office 365
- Printers and Scanners
- Logging and responding to support tickets
- Identifying and escalating higher level issues to senior engineers
- Prioritize based on urgency of task
- Being a people person, delivering support with a friendly and positive manner
Qualifications:
- Ideally looking for someone with over 2+ years of experience or equivalent.
- Good at dialogue and cooperation
- Preferred to be educated to degree level from a STEM background.
Personal characteristics:
- Want to further develop yourself in IT.
- Initiative and proactive, able to identify improvements and implement them.
- Able to work hands-on and contribute where needed.
- Work in a structured and efficient manner.
- Interest in cyber security.
