Warehouse Manager required for a very well-established, family-run business with lots of history!

Reporting to the General Manager, your role will be to oversee all warehousing activities related to the storage, handling, packing and loading of product (and by product). This position will ensure that inventory management, packaging, loading, and dispatch processes are efficient, safe, and compliant with food safety and quality standards.

  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of product, packaging and raw materials.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring accurate and real-time inventory records using warehouse management systems.
  • Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) principles to ensure good stock rotation and minimise waste.
  • Plan and coordinate daily warehouse activities including packing, storage, loading operations and warehouse good inwards.
  • Manage the movement of goods between production and warehouse, ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials.
  • Returns, booking in, Goods In, closing orders.
  • Manage, supervise & lead a team of warehouse staff (including loaders, forklift operators, and inventory clerks) and stock control personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety within the warehouse to comply with health and food safety regulations.
  • Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure team members are trained on operational and safety procedures.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, conducting regular training and risk assessments in line with OSHA and HACCP standards.
  • Collaborate with transport team to help coordinate deliveries, ensuring on time shipments of flour to customers.
  • Work closely with production teams to align warehouse activities with production schedules.
  • Ensure that all products are stored and handled in accordance with food safety and quality standards (GMP, HACCP, etc.).
  • Conduct regular inspections of warehouse conditions, monitoring for pests, cleanliness, and product integrity.
  • Ensure proper labelling, sealing, and packaging to prevent contamination and ensure product quality.
  • Oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and bagging machines.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure that all warehouse facilities are in good working order and compliant with safety standards.
  • Generate reports on inventory levels, warehouse performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing products, transfers, and returns.
  • Prepare and submit reports to management on warehouse KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Returns, booking in, Goods In, closing orders.

What you will need:

  • Extensive experience of warehouse management.
  • Experience in the food processing industry.
  • Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory control, logistics, and warehouse best practices.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, etc.) and company safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on team development.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Team player.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Basic understanding of UK Employment law, including practical dissemination of HR policies and procedures e.g. recruitment, capability, disciplinary procedures (not essential).
  • IOSH Health & Safety management (not essential).
  • Food Safety, HACCP, BRC audit involvement (not essential).

In return, my client will be offering a salary of £47,000 - £50,000 (dep. on experience), based on working hours of 9-5 Mon - Fri. You will also get 24 days holiday with an option to buy or sell up to 5 days, and be enrolled onto the company pension which they match up to 10%!
