Warehouse Manager Job Summary:

This is an exciting new role to work as Warehouse Manager for our reputable client based in Harlow. You will report to the General Manager and oversee all production planning, packing, storage and warehousing activities. This position ensures that inventory management, packaging, loading, and dispatch processes are efficient, safe, and compliant, meeting food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will ideally have experience in the food processing industry, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of warehouse management systems, and food safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities of the Warehouse Manager:

Inventory Management:

Oversee the planning, receipt, storage, and dispatch, packaging and warehouse raw materials.

Maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring accurate and real-time inventory records using warehouse management systems.

Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) principles to ensure good stock rotation and minimise waste.

Manage stock control personnel

Warehouse Operations:

Plan and coordinate daily warehouse activities, packing, storage, loading operations and warehouse good inwards.

Manage the movement of goods between production and warehouse, ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials.

Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety within the warehouse to comply with health and food safety regulations.

Team Leadership:

Supervise and lead a team of warehouse staff, including packers, loaders, forklift operators, and inventory team.

Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure team members are trained on operational and safety procedures.

Promote a safety-first culture, conducting regular training and risk assessments in line with our H&S arrangements and HACCP standards.

Logistics Coordination:

Collaborate with transport team to help coordinate deliveries, ensuring on-time and in full shipments of flour to customers.

Work closely with production teams to align warehouse activities with schedules.

Quality Control and Food Safety:

Ensure that all food products are stored and handled in accordance with food safety and quality standards (GMP, HACCP, etc.).

Conduct regular inspections of warehouse conditions, monitoring for pests, cleanliness, and product integrity.

Ensure proper labelling, sealing, and packaging to prevent contamination and ensure product quality.

Equipment and Facility Management:

Oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and bagging machines.

Work with the maintenance team to ensure that all warehouse facilities are in good working order and compliant with safety standards.

Reporting and Documentation:

Generate reports on inventory levels, packing OEE, warehouse performance, and operational efficiency.

Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing products, transfers, and returns.

Prepare and submit reports to management on packing and warehouse KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria

Extensive experience of warehouse management, preferably in the food processing industry.

Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of inventory control, logistics, and warehouse best practices.

Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, etc.) and company safety regulations.

Skills:

Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on team development.

Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.

Team player

Excellent IT skills

Desirable Criteria

Basic understanding of UK Employment law, including practical dissemination of HR policies and procedures e.g. recruitment, capability, disciplinary procedures.

IOSH Health & Safety management

Food Safety, HACCP, BRC audit involvement
