Role Purpose

To ensure the delivery of a safe, compliant, and high-quality pharmaceutical service that meets professional standards and provides excellent patient care.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Clinical Governance:

    Ensure compliance with regulations and standards (GPhC, RPS, MHRA, Caldicott Principles).Lead clinical governance and optimize medication therapy.Develop systems to prevent medication errors and ensure patient safety.
  2. Operational Planning:

    • Translate strategic directions into operational plans for Pharmacy Services and Oncology homecare.
    • Drive the implementation of business plans and key objectives.
  3. Education and Training:

    Develop and deliver education and training programs for Pharmacists.Emphasize continuous professional development and specialism in clinical therapies.
  4. Performance Management:

    Maximize the performance and potential of the department.Implement recognition, reward, and consequence management.
  5. Stakeholder Relationships:

    Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Collaborate on bids, account meetings, and patient-facing strategies.

Key Measures of Success

  • Reduction in incidents and near-misses.
  • Achievement of clinical competence and governance KPIs.
  • Positive feedback from staff and stakeholders.
  • Compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Effective management during crises.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Registered and qualified Pharmacist (GPhC).
  • Significant experience in clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, management, and coaching skills.
  • Thorough understanding of UK pharmacy regulations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and patient confidentiality.
