Quality Inspector | Harlow | 38 hours per week - Monday to Thursday, 7am - 5pm | £32,000 to £40,000 depending on experience and/or skills
Our client is a leading gear manufacturer and supplier specialising in the production of transmission components tailored to their customer’s unique requirements. Serving a diverse range of industries, they proudly supply gears to both the UK and international markets.
As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for maintaining our client’s high-quality standards by approving incoming materials, monitoring in-process production, and inspecting finished products.
Are you the right person for the job?
- Proven experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in a machining environment with CNC and manual machining
- Ability to work with the ISO 9001 quality system
- Proficient in CMM software and quality control techniques
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Experience with precision measuring equipment, such as micrometres, verniers, and height gauges
- Ability to read manufacturing drawings with a clear understanding of GD&T symbols
- Familiarity with Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook)
What will your role look like?
Your key duties include:
- Approving incoming materials by confirming specifications through visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
- Approving in-process production by conducting visual and measurement tests and communicating required adjustments to machinists
- Preparing quality documentation for dispatch with finished products (PPAPs, ISIRs, etc.).
- Documenting inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarising re-work and waste; inputting data into our quality database
- Ensuring inspection records meet ISO standards
- Coordinating with colleagues regarding any quality issues
- Keeping measurement equipment operating by following calibration procedures
- Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
