Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive primary school in Harlow. This role will involve working closely with the Year 4 teaching team to deliver engaging and effective lessons, support student learning, and contribute to the overall development of the pupils.

As a HLTA, you will take on a more advanced role within the classroom, including leading lessons in the teacher’s absence, supporting small groups and individual students, and assisting with planning and assessment. The ideal candidate will be confident, proactive, and passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver pre-planned lessons across Year 4 in the teacher’s absence.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals and groups, ensuring all students are engaged and making progress.
  • Assist in planning and adapting learning activities to meet diverse student needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to assess and monitor student progress.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Support behaviour management strategies to ensure a productive classroom.

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or extensive experience as a Teaching Assistant with the ability to lead lessons.
  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children, preferably in Year 4.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting children’s learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
