About the Role: Our client, an independent Family Assessment Centre, is seeking a dedicated Residential Family Support Worker to join their team in Harlow. This role involves providing safety, support, and guidance to families undergoing parenting assessments, ensuring they meet the targets outlined in their placement plans. You will play a key role in observing and recording parental interactions while working closely with a multidisciplinary team to help families reach their full potential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support parents and children in a residential setting, encouraging positive behaviours and key life skills.
  • Collaborate with social workers, healthcare professionals, and legal services to assist families in meeting their goals.
  • Monitor and record parental interactions, providing feedback to the Lead Assessment Social Worker.
  • Safeguard children at all times within the family centre.
  • Facilitate contact between families and their children, as well as assist families with appointments.
  • Conduct parenting sessions and promote positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on family progress.
  • Work shifts as part of a 24-hour shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Undertake any other duties, including domestic tasks such as cooking and cleaning, to assist in the day-to-day functioning of the centre.


Requirements:

  • Resilience and motivation, with a calm and adaptable approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • IT literacy and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential (willingness to work towards this qualification is required).
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and adults is desirable but not essential (full training provided).
  • Must hold business insurance on your car and be willing to transport families as needed.
  • A valid DBS (preferred).
