Our client is one of the regions fastest growing businesses and due to this continued growth, they are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join them on a permanent basis at their Harrogate based office. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for either a recent graduate or for someone who is currently studying AAT and has some previous finance work experience. Graduates from the following disciplines will be considered - accountancy and finance, mathematics, statistics, business, physics, chemistry and any others that have a maths-based syllabus. Candidates who have had previous month end experience such as accruals, prepayments and journals will also be considered.

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a fast paced, changeable business where you will be able to gain experience of the full month end process and will be supported by a very experienced and approachable Management Accountant. You will be rewarded with 25 days holiday, a salary of up to £32,000 depending on experience and access to a host of high street discounts. This role is easily commutable from Harrogate, North Leeds, West Leeds, Leeds City Centre and the area to the West of York. There is also free car parking on-site and it is very accessible via public transport.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Management Accountant with the month end process
  • Production and posting of journals
  • Prepayments and accruals
  • Assisting with the production of the financial packs and assisting with commentary
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Updating the fixed asset register and allowing for any depreciation
  • Reconciling when needed and working closely with the transactional finance team especially around month end
  • Resolving queries and continually evaluating processes and policies and looking for more efficient ways of completing daily tasks
  • Shadowing the Management Accountant around more complex tasks and gaining experience/understanding of finance business partnering

To be considered for this Assistant Management Accountant role you will ideally:

  • Have a recent relevant degree, will be studying AAT or will have some month end experience within a finance role
  • Have excellent communication skills, will be organised and have good attention to detail
  • Be able to work towards deadlines in a fast-paced environment and will always be looking to develop yourself and the role
  • Have some understanding of Excel and will enjoy working with software packages and systems and will pick them up quickly
