Our client is one of the areas fastest growing businesses and due to this continued growth, they are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join them on a permanent basis at their Harrogate based office. This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience within an Assistant Accountant/Assistant Management Accountant type position and has ideally got some experience of dealing with accruals, prepayments and/or journals. Candidates who have studied or are studying AAT and have covered the month end process in their studies will also be considered alongside graduates with some finance work experience.

The role will be extremely varied, will be split across transactional and month end duties and there will be the opportunity to progress into a Management Accountant role over time. You will be supported by a very experienced and approachable Management Accountant and will join a business that values giving back to the local community through incentive and employee volunteer days.

You will be rewarded with 34 days holiday, hybrid working, a salary of up to £31,000 depending on experience, study support and access to a host of high street discounts. This role is easily commutable from Harrogate, North Leeds, West Leeds, Leeds City Centre and the area to the West of York. There is also free car parking on-site and it is very accessible via public transport.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Management Accountant with the month end process
  • Producing monthly bespoke financial packs for different entities of the business
  • Production and posting of journals
  • Responsible for prepayments and accruals
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Shadowing and supporting the Management Accountant around the budgeting process
  • Assisting with the yearly audit process
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices and carrying out bank reconciliations
  • Processing payment runs
  • Resolving queries and continually evaluating processes and policies and looking for more efficient ways of completing daily tasks

To be considered for this Assistant Management Accountant role you will ideally:

  • Have some month end experience within a finance role and will understand accruals, prepayments and the journal process
  • Be hands on in approach as the role is part of a smaller team where everyone supports each other and assists with workload especially around month end
  • Have excellent communication skills, will be organised and have good attention to detail
  • Want to study to support your career and will always be looking to develop yourself and the role
  • Be able to work towards deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Have some understanding of Excel and will enjoy working with software packages and systems and will pick them up quickly
