Assistant Neighbourhood Officer– Up to £26,000- Harrogate, North Yorkshire New Year – New Start

The Role

As an Assistant Neighbourhood Officer, you will play a key part in ensuring our neighbourhoods are vibrant, safe and welcoming places to live. Working alongside the Neighbourhood Officer, you will assist in managing our neighbourhoods, maintaining positive relationships with customers and delivering a high-quality housing service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the delivery of an excellent service that demonstrates HHA’s values, of local,  approachable and customer focused to make a real difference to customer’s lives including ensuring our neighbourhoods and properties are well presented and maintained.
  • To work with the Neighbourhood Officer to ensure the services the Association delivers are in line with policies and procedures and are customer focussed, and responsive to local needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of a variety of inclusive and effective customer involvement opportunities in our neighbourhoods.
  • To assist in the robust management of the terms of the tenancy/ lease where breaches have occurred.
  • To work with the Neighbourhood Officer to regularly monitor neighbourhood service contracts, such as gardening and cleaning, resulting in the driving up of standards and the  delivery of value for money.
  • Support the Neighbourhood Officer to improve the communities where our customers live.
  • To assist in the establishment, development, and maintenance of effective partnerships with stakeholders, such as police, the local authority, and customers, having a professional approach at all times.

The Company

We are a small, but expanding, housing association who only operate in the Harrogate District.  We offer homes for rent and on a shared ownership basis.

With a personal, local service we want to help our customers create homes near family and work.

The Person

  • An understanding of housing management issues (general needs, leaseholds and shared ownership).
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and current issues within the housing sector.
  • An understanding of customer involvement strategies and how and when to apply them.
  • Willing to study and qualify for a professional qualification in housing.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal format.
  • Ability to adapt approach and techniques dependent on the audience.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel competently and has an aptitude to learn new computer systems.
  • To be an effective listener and comprehend complex information, interpreting this and explaining to others.
  • At least 2 good A levels or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work outside usual office hours as and when necessary.
  • Has a Full driving licence and access to a car insured for business purposes.
  • Willing to travel throughout the Harrogate district for work purposes.
