We are currently working with a specialist school seeking a highly dedicated and experienced Full-Time SEMH HLTA. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning experience for students facing a range of emotional and social challenges.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a strong understanding of de-escalation techniques and be able to manage challenging behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all.
  • Have experience working with learners with SEMH needs, providing individual and small group support in a nurturing and trusting environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement effective strategies in line with a learner's EHCP.
  • Utilise a range of techniques to manage challenging behaviour, promote emotional regulation, and develop positive social skills.
  • Be adept at delivering active learning strategies that engage and motivate students.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to meet the diverse needs of learners, tailoring support to individual requirements.
  • Be a team player and willing to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Maintain clear boundaries while fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a positive behaviour support system.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school or other educational setting.
  • A calm and patient demeanour, with a strong understanding of de-escalation techniques.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle to travel to the school.
  • A TeamTeach qualification (or willingness to attend training).
